There was something about being under the sea that made Kaname uneasy. It was not the unusual circumstances or noises that had placed him with one Alba Evovae, a fellow grunt and scientist, that bothered him, after all the noises could be explained. No, it was that a submarine was a waterbound, iron coffin for everyone on board if something went wrong; and things always had the potential to go wrong.[break][break]

He glanced over at his compatriot who had just yawned. Alba Evovae, clearly either bored, tired, or both at the prospect laid out before them. It wasn’t glamorous, being the chaff sent to investigate tales of strange noise and stranger happenings but if they did their job well, they’d be rewarded. That fact alone motivated Kaname, who was ever trying to climb the ranks of Team Rocket. [break][break]

“We should use the opportunity to do some additional work while we investigate the noises. Two Pidgey, one stone.” He suggested, glancing over at his colleague to gauge his reaction. It seemed like a good idea to Kaname, accomplish what they could while they waited for whatever was causing the sounds to do its thing. “Regardless, we should head in there and wait it out.” He said, producing his badge, ready to swipe it at a moment’s notice and enter the supposedly haunted labs. Just kidding. Now he was actually thinking about it, maybe this wouldn't be so bad. Kaname Fujihara was a valued colleague. His contribution to their scientific work had proven as much; out of all the employees that were on this fancy boat, there were worse people to spend the night with, wandering deserted and potentially haunted rooms.[break][break]

"Oh? Well, seeing as we're here, I wouldn't mind a little overtime." Any pretence of exhaustion evaporated from Alba's face, momentarily forgotten. Of course he'd exaggerated how tired he actually was a little; it wasn't as though he'd never been a night owl before. Not that night and day existed very much when under the sea… Still, this wouldn't be all too different to his typical extra hours. Not too different, provided you ignored the mysterious noises and the fact that it would just be the two of them.[break][break]

"Tell me, Kaname, what do you think we'll find?" From humans, to Pokémon, to critical risk mechanical faults, there were all sorts of things that could go bump in the night.

“A little overtime is good for us both. I’ve got plenty of samples to spin down…” His face dropped at the prospect of standing in front of a centrifuge for an hour, spinning down samples and checking them for particulates. However, it was too late to change his mind, his dear colleague had already agreed to his idea.[break][break]


“As to what we’ll find? I’m theorizing that it's likely mechanical or pokemon in origin. If it is truly pokemon based, let’s hope that it’s managable.” Of all the things Kaname did not want to deal with, it was fighting a pokemon while aboard an underwear vessel. Any resulting fight would likely just get very messy and/or out of control far too quickly. “Though, any serious mechanical errors could also lead to our deaths…”[break][break]


“That said though, what’s your hypothesis? I’m interested to hear what you think, given that we have such little information.” There was a genuine curiosity in his voice as swiped his badge across the reader, opening the door to the lab for them both. “After you, sir.” He gestured with his free hand for Alba to go ahead of him. [break][break]
